Dunfermline is a city in Fife and was once the capital of Scotland!
In May 2022, Dunfermline became Scotland's newest city as part of HM The Queen's Platinum Jubilee celebrations. Our eighth city is located north of Edinburgh, just across the Forth Bridge.
Dunfermline is at the heart of Scotland's history and the royal and monastic past can be seen throughout the city.
How to get to Dunfermline
Dunfermline is an easily accessible city, located just 30 minutes north of Edinburgh.
Bus and coach
From Edinburgh, hop one of the frequent bus services with Stagecoach, taking just 30 minutes. Or if you're travelling from Glasgow City Centre there are bus routes taking just an hour.
As a relatively small city, Dunfermline is easy to explore on foot with a great variety of walking routes available to explore.
There are a great range of routes as well as accessible cycle paths around the city and to nearby towns, villages and attractions too.
